We are pleased to announce that Dr. Zoltán Herce joins PROVARIS Varga & Partners as head of our newly established Banking and Finance Practice Group. Zoltán brings more than 15 years of experience in the regulatory landscape of the financial sector, with a strong focus on banking regulatory and data governance matters.

Throughout his career, Zoltán has gained experience both as an external advisor and as an in-house compliance officer, acquiring comprehensive understanding of the operations of financial institutions and the practical application of domestic and EU regulatory requirements. Prior to serving as Head of Compliance for Revolut Bank in Hungary, he worked as a manager in the banking and financial regulatory team of Deloitte Legal, where he advised regulated financial institutions on complex compliance, market entry and transactional matters. He began his legal career at Kapolyi Law Firm, where he focused for several years on the financial services sector.

In recent years, Zoltán has worked as an independent advisor for financial institutions and other regulated entities, including serving as lead advisor on DORA compliance projects. He has supported clients in reviewing internal policies, managing licensing procedures, and advising on transactional due diligence processes. His areas of expertise include prudential and operational compliance for financial institutions (CRR, PSD2, MiFID, EMIR, Hungarian Banking Act), digital compliance frameworks (notably DORA and CSRD), the design and development of internal compliance and control mechanisms, as well as the acquisition, due diligence, and licensing of regulated entities.

“With Zoltán’s arrival, our goal is to establish and strengthen our financial regulatory practice in an environment where our Clients increasingly require complex, multidisciplinary advisory services in a rapidly evolving domestic and EU regulatory landscape,” said István Varga, Managing Partner of PROVARIS.
